Stephen Miller

About

Stephen Miller is a pastor and artist who strives to enlarge people’s view of God with the truth of Scripture and artfully give a vocabulary and vehicle to express thankfulness and praise to Him. He serves as worship leader alongside pastor Darrin Patrick at The Journey St Louis and travels with his band to lead worship all over the world. Believing that songs alone are insufficient to express our love for God, and are in fact our smallest expression of worship, Stephen is adamant that worship is a lifestyle expressed through mercy, justice and compassion. He is a passionate advocate for orphans, and serves as a Compassion International artist, who he has partnered with for the past 4 years to help rescue children out of poverty in Jesus name.

FULL BIO -

Stephen Miller moved his family and band to Saint Louis, MO in early 2010 to take on this role of worship leader at The Journey, a church pastored by his friend Darrin Patrick. Though he began leading worship 11 years earlier, had toured full time and served in a few churches previously, it was obvious that God was leading him to The Journey to begin a new phase of ministry.

While the Church at large remains one of his deepest passions and he continues to serve in leading worship for conferences, concerts and youth camps, that has become an extension of his love and passion for the local church.

“The local church is where it’s at,” Stephen says about investing his life into The Journey. “You could spend a lifetime as a lone ranger touring and traveling and never experience the kind of deep life change that results from investing your life into a body week in and week out. There is a significant strength that comes to your leadership when you invest in a particular group of people… they begin to color your world and you, theirs.”

Stephen is also very adamant that worship is a lifestyle that goes so far beyond the 4 walls of a church, into the everyday actions of our daily lives.

“Songs alone are insufficient to express our love for God. In fact they are our smallest expression of worship. What does God require of our worship but a lifestyle of humble worship through mercy and justice?”

As a result He has become a passionate advocate for orphans and children in poverty across the globe. By adopting two boys from Ethiopia and working closely with Compassion International, Stephen hopes his life will be a tangible display of the Gospel to a watching world.

“These issues are on God’s heart and mind… they should be on the church’s.”

His most recent projects,God & Sinner Reconcile and People of Redemption, are expressions of his deep desire to give the church songs to sing to their Creator and motivate them to a lifestyle of worship that embraces justice, mercy and compassion.

“Many people play songs, some lead worship. Stephen is one of those rare guys that cares enough about the people in the room to want them to have an experience with God more than an experience with him. He teaches you and invites you to participate with him in worshiping the one who is truly worth our worship. I would recommend you have your students or adults experience his leadership.”
